- Choice of Biography style
After opportunities to view the various styles of biography you should choose a method of reporting that best fits your subject as well as your strengths as a writer. You should carefully read over the guidelines and expectations for that particular style, making sure that you understand it clearly.
- Timeline list
Make a list of important events from your subject’s life with the corresponding year in which each happened. You must include at least 6-8 events on your timeline but no more than 10. These events must be significant events in your subject’s life. One of the events on your timeline must be an historical event that took place during your subject’s lifetime. It does not necessarily have to be an event that directly affected your subject. You will use these events to create a digital timeline in Library class.
- Blurb (Short summary of your subject’s main accomplishments)
Your blurb should include only truly important events from your subject’s life. Be sure to include your subject’s most significant accomplishment and what she is known for, so that the audience will be able to guess who the subject is. Your blurb should be 5-7 sentences long and be written in a “Who am I?” format and it should be written in the first person. The blurb should be engaging and informative, not just a list of dates and events
After your blurb is approved, it needs to be memorized.
- Skits/Performances
You will be placed in a group with several of your classmates and
asked to design a skit/performance based upon the interaction of the various subjects in your group. Guidelines and expectations will be explained in Language Arts class. After the skit is written, you will need to practice and memorize your part.
- Costume
You will dress up like your subject on the day of Open Gates. Your costume should be an appropriate representation of your subject.
